The right moment

When to ask

01
When puppy class ends
The puppy sits and comes when called, and the owners are proud. Send the text that same afternoon while everyone is still excited.
02
At pick-up from the groomer
The dog is bathed, trimmed and smells great. The sticker at the counter catches the moment, or send the request an hour after pick-up.
03
After private training
After a few private sessions on leash pulling or recall, the owner sees the difference on every walk. Ask once they tell you it is working.

Review sites

Where your customers review

Dog owners search Google and look at other customers' photos. Nextdoor matters for pet services, since neighbors ask there who they trust with their dog.

And a sticker at the pick-up counter

While you hand over the leash, the owner has a hand free. A sticker right on the counter gets scanned before they are out the door. Put a second one at the training field gate, and Citypicked counts each separately.

What changes for you

Sunday class, Sunday request: If your class runs Sunday morning, switch Sundays on in your sending hours. The text or email then goes out that same day instead of on Monday.
A nick from the clippers comes to you first: If a dog came home stressed or with a small nick, a low rating brings that to you as private feedback. Call the owner, note what was said and mark it done.
Grooming regulars, asked now and then: Grooming regulars come back again and again. Set it so the same number is asked only once in 60 or 90 days, and the request never becomes routine.

Common questions

Training and grooming are under one roof. One page or two?

One review page per location, so one for both if it is all at one address. With two codes, say training field and pick-up counter, you still see where scans come from. If they are at different addresses, set up two locations.

Can I text a whole puppy class at once?

Yes. Type in the owners or upload the class list, and Citypicked sends the texts for you, spread over several hours if you like. Anyone who has rated already gets no reminder.

Will other customers see it if someone is unhappy with a cut?

No. With a low rating, the owner fills in a short form only you and your team see. You get an email right away and can reply by email. Only what someone posts on a review site themselves is public.

Should I add Nextdoor to my review page?

If your neighbors use Nextdoor, switch it on next to Google. Happy owners then choose where to post. Keep Google first, that is where new customers nearby search.

Do texts to customers in the US work right away?

SMS to the US and Canada need a sender number first. We set it up for you; it takes about a week. Email, WhatsApp and QR codes work from the first day.
